Performance “Polish” & Spontaneous Workshop

How can your team add “polish” to its performance?  Is their performance World Finals quality?  Some pointers on how to help teams analyze and assess their own performance.   Spontaneous Skills — yes, they can be taught and learned!  A variety of strategies for solving the different types of spontaneous problems will be presented.

Northern Spontaneous Scrimmage

January 9, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Teams will experience all three types of spontaneous problems – hands-on, verbal, and verbal/hands-on – with feedback from their judges.  All seven team members may participate to give everyone some practice.  Registration is required and is limited to the first 12 teams.  Six teams will participate at 10:00 and another 6 at 11:00.

Tournament Registration Deadline

Registration for the Vermont Odyssey of the Mind 2016 State Tournament is due by Midnight, Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016. Registrations received after that date will be assessed a $50 Late Registration Fee. Payment is due by Midnight, Feb. 6, 2016. Payments received after that date will be assessed a $50 Late Payment Fee.

Judges’ Training

March 5, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm

Mandatory training for the judges with their Problem Captains will take place at Mater Christi School in Burlington on Saturday, March 5, 2016, 9:00 – 12:30. Each team is required to provide a judge for the Odyssey of the Mind State Tournament to be held at Champlain Valley Union High School, Saturday, March 19, 2016.

Coaches Meeting with Problem Captains

Coaches are invited to meet with their Problem Captain.  This meeting is not required but could provide answers to questions about site layout, tournament procedures, and final preparation jitters before the State Tournament.

WF Decision Deadline

World Finals eligible teams must notify the Association Director, Kathy Jacob, of their decision to travel to World Finals by this date.  This is out of respect for the third place teams who are awaiting the decision as to their eligibility to attend World Finals in the place of a team that decides not to go. Please let the AD know as soon as possible of your decision.
